Poets

the land was there     across the desert
and poets pooled an ocean with their sweat

look at us now     we swam an ocean
and we didn't even know that we were wet

      now we're near another shore
that we won't see until we've buried it

at first there was just a few of us
now we're the ocean that we sought to split

the poets see through clouded eyes
changed generations who never knew their names

 dreaming eyes     young poets rise
in newborn nations growing every day
